We tried telling parents to "opt out" of having emergency contacts being able to pick up by typing in the "Relationship" field.  However, there is a 30 character limit that prevents saving (but doesn't throw an error message) that makes this not viable. A simple check-box would allow the emergency contacts to serve as an authorized pickup without the need for using additional fields. There is no easy built-in way to collect information for authorized pickups, which is something that almost every school needs.
