Merge fields are not accessible when viewing email in browser

When viewing any message from BBIS\NetCommunity that uses merge fields and clicking on the link to "view in the browser" the merge fields on the temporary webpage are blank.

    Our institution has been live with CRM\BBIS for about 1 year and we have discovered that merged fields from email messages are not displayed when a user clicks on the "View in Browser" hyperlink. I found article 72601 in the knowledge based but I was told by Blackbaud support that the article dates back to July 2016. It is very important to us that the merge fields appear and I believe that this is basic functionality that should be available. Will a fix be implemented in the near future for this problem. This problem was identified 3 years ago.
