On a Donor Challange, you can Encumber actual gifts as well as Reserved Funds. The Reserved Funds area is a placeholder for gifts that have been promised but not received. When running a Donor Challenge process, the process uses a Selection to update the challenge, but there is nothing in Query that references Reserved Funds, so the Encumbered Funds can not be updated with this process, only manually added.
