In order to use the name formats in a one-off scenario on an individual constituent record, a user must export the name formats to excel or type them in manually to the document.
It would be beneficial to have the ability to copy the name format from the Personal Info>Name Format section of a constituent record. There is the ability to copy the name form the Personal Information tile, but that does not always align with the name formats on a constituent record.

As long as the Letter Template used with the "Write a Letter" feature has the merge field present there should be no requirement to copy/paste manually into a document. Please contact support if you are having difficulty achieving the desired result.
