You can only select 'is gift' at the membership level so if you need the details of the giver, you have to use the membership transaction section. If a particular membership has been given by multiple people over the years, it is really difficult to pinpoint which membership transaction you want as there is no option for 'most recent'. Being able to get to the given by details at Membership level would solve this as then you wouldn't need to touch the membership transaction area. The data must be there as it shows on a membership who the giver is when hovering over the present icon without that person needing to be attached to any specific transactions on the membership itself.
