Organizations may have membership programs that have been 'retired' for all intents and purposes. However, they still have members paying into those programs. For example, an org has a lifetime membership program with a 10 year grace period for becoming fully paid - the existing 'subscribing' members have 10 years in which to make 10 annual payments to become "fully paid" life program members. The organization wishes to discontinue marketing this program to new members but doesn't want to take it away from existing 'subscribing' members. It would be great if there were an option to indicate on each membership program in CRM to "disallow new members".
This would also be effective for orgs who have a limited number of available memberships for a program but want to allow existing members to remain in the program, which offers the appearance of exclusivity and value for the organization.
