Right now, deposits are tied to posting to GL for some reason - certain payment methods require being tied to deposits while others can never be tied to a deposit, but the determination is made by Blackbaud and not configurable. Customers should be able to configure their systems to be able to set whether each payment method requires a deposit or can be tied to a deposit. Our organization, for example, doesn't really use the Deposit functionality inside BBEC and having to enter the information just so we can run the Post to GL process is a waste of our time.
