I submitted a case (016394318) on June 7, 2017 about exactly this issue. I was told basically that this was a gap and not a bug. So 2 and a half years later it's an idea? If you upgrade the features in your system you should update the sdk to reflect them. This 'gap' requires manual intervention that complicates the deployment process.
After 10 years this is still as big of an issue as it ever was...
