When you enter the edit hierarchy area (which works a bit better than the front end), it doesn’t save your work until you hit save and then it closes out entirely and you have to go back in and open up the hierarchy again to the location you were working in.  (Maybe just the addition of a save and close vs. a save button, like in ad hoc query, would address this.)
