Expose Name Format Options to Query

Currently, you can define Name Format Options to be used in Marketing Efforts. However, the similar functionality, Address Processing Options not only can be used in Marketing Efforts but can also be used in Query. Please extend the Name Format Options so that it can be used in query the same way Address Processing Options can be. By changing the query view, this should also make it available in Export Definitions.

Address processing options in query have been extremely helpful and useful for one-time and periodic exports where a full Marketing Effort did not make sense or was much more work. The piece that has repeatedly been missing when a name format was needed also is not being able to get the proper name format. For instance, we currently need to create a nightly feed between various systems where a constituent should only have a specific format, say to our grant making system for donor statements. CRM makes sense to be the system of record for constituent data. The deficiency we currently have is the ability for the system to determine the correct name format to export for each constituent along with a unique ID of that name format. This cannot even be done with a marketing effort, but if name format options was in query, that would be possible and in fact, very easy.

Thank-you for providing further clarity. It would be really helpful if you could advise why this would be considered useful for your organization. Query is considered to be a grouping tool rather than reporting or for data manipulation. Because Name Format Options are an on the fly contextual process this would impact Query performance and knowing how this would assist you would be appreciated.

To clarify, "Name Formats" are available in query however, "Name Format Options" are not. "Name Format Options" can be configured within Marketing and Communications and are used in Marketing Efforts to determine which Name Format should be used for a specific constituent based on the logic configured (i.e. If they have an Joint Addressee use that, else if they have an Individual Informal Addressee use that, else if they have an Individual Addressee use that, else build the name format using this pattern). This same type of functionality is in Marketing and Communications for Addresses called Address Processing Options. The difference is that Address Processing Options are also available in Constituent queries, but Name Format Options are not. If you create a new Constituent query, at the top you will see "Address Processing Options" as well as "Addresses". What I'm suggesting is that in the query view, in addition to the current "Name Formats" node, we add a "Name Format Options" node that implements that functionality.
