Disable auto-changing gender based on first name/title Merged

Currently, when editing/creating a constituent's first name or title, their gender changes based on the configuration settings for "First Names" and "Title code defaults". We would like it so that you can disable the auto-changing of gender altogether. If you remove everything from "First Names" (table FIRSTNAMES), then every time you change a first name, the gender changes to "Unknown". As for "Title code defaults", they all default to "Unknown" anyways if you delete all entries in the table TITLECODECONFIGURATION. So this causes the gender to always become "Unknown" if you edit either field for the constituent

Great question and point Martin. This issue came up during our discovery calls with customers last year. We agree with you that making assumptions on gender is no longer appropriate. More information on the specific functional changes will be forthcoming with the documentation that comes along with the release of the gender code table in an upcoming service pack.

Is this still an issue? We don't use the gender field as it doesn't cover all the genders we record (we use an attribute instead) but with the incoming customisable gender field (based on a code table) I'm concerned that this issue will be duplicated in the 'new' functionality.

@Blackbaud: Making assumptions on gender in this way (by name or title) is no longer appropriate and should NOT be included with the new customisable gender field, or at the very least, we must be able to disable it.
