Agreed. Our current feeling is that 'Social Media' doesn't really work, as true social media is sharing to a wide audience, which does not need consent as it is not 'sent' to individual users.
Apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, etc. are instant messaging services (often with other features like phone calls and video calls built in) and therefore sit closer to SMS than anything else. Using these phone or video call functions means checking different consents, just like the difference between calling or texting a mobile/cell number.
Converting the hard-coded list to a customisable code table (like the change Gender is currently making) would enable us to more closely match the channels to the services available and enable us to add more should new channels evolve (Metaverse??).

Yes, this is definintely needed as we are using Online methods, there is no option for this.
