The current logic of this form disables the default letter field when a deceased constituent is selected as the tributee. This is because, currently, they are automatically set as a acknowledgee and the letter specified is the letter that would be addressed to them and considers that if they are deceased a letter should not be addressed to them. Not being able to set a default letter requires letters be manually assigned.
