If you visit a URL ending in “.html” which doesn’t actually go to a BBIS page

If you visit a URL ending in “.html” which doesn’t actually go to a BBIS page (for example www.giving.ox.ac.uk/bob.html ) you are presented with a completely blank screen (whereas www.giving.ox.ac.uk/bob will redirect you to the site’s homepage). Obviously we shouldn’t be beholden to old CMS URLs but in some instances we have old links that may still get used by visitors/alumni/donors. For the important URLs that end in “.html” we are able to recreate these as BBIS Friendly URLs but not all links would be necessary to keep. It does mean that any visitors who navigate via old bookmarks or hyperlinks may be presented with a blank screen rather than getting redirected to the homepage (the ideal).
