We have different kinds of "Other" non-charitable revenue that we need to add in CRM to understand the 360 degree view of our constituents and their relationship with the organization.  Having the ability to map the subtype for the Other application type would allow us to do this without the workaround of using revenue category or payment method to identify these types. We want to keep data entry simple to avoid data entry errors so the fewer decision points at time of revenue entry, the better.  GL transaction mapping would solve that issue.
