Adding future end dates to group members

Groups provide a great way to identify and manage small sections of the larger alumni base quickly. In particular, Oxford have found it useful to use the group function to keep track of donors who have made pledges for a set period and need to be recognised in a particular way (i.e. particular giving clubs). Grouping them enables us to see group membership growth and decline, current size and members and when each member joined. What we are unable to see quickly, however, is when certain members will leave the group. This is where we would like the ability to put future dates in. At the moment we can only retroactively take members out of a group as we can’t set their membership to automatically expire because only past dates can be entered. It appears that some capacity for future dates is already available as future dates that were already input into Raiser’s Edge Group memberships (i.e. attributes) have carried over and sit nicely within the DARS Group setting. Future dates would also be extremely useful in helping with stewardship and reporting.

This makes sense for how people need to use CRM. This idea was logged in 2015... it's long overdue!

I think this would be great to implement, along with Future Start Date (CRM-I-2772) and Multiple Committee Entries (CRM-I-2308), as well as allow the same for roles. (As long as you are more thorough about testing it than the latest feature in SP 26 where the Relationship Add form updates the End Date on the Employment History!)

This would be helpful, as most of our group members have set terms. Currently we have to touch a record twice to update this information.

This is another vote for future end dates on roles for committees. That would be extremely helpful!

We apologize. This item should not have a PLANNED status on it. It will be set back to Voting Open. We acknowledge it has a high vote count so it will continue to remain on our radar, and when things change we will update the status once again.

Also checking on when this might be implemented. It's marked as planned but how do we get an update on timeline?

Agree about future start dates as well. Any update on when this will be implemented? It's marked as Planned...but for how long as that been???

Still hoping to see this implemented in the near future.

With so many committees here, and units not keeping this up to date this would be helpful.

Our committees need this very badly

Many of our committees have fixed terms, and it would be beneficial to add a future end date--and future start dates.

WWF end users are plagued by this. We have to wait until after the group membership expirary to to enter the detail.

University of Illinois is very interested in this functionality!

Ohio State would also use this - particularly for committees where there is a fixed term. If we could enter the future date when their term ends then we would save the step of going back and end dating at the end of each term.

Another advantage of being able to enter future dates is to enable tracking of term-limited trustees. Several times a year we have to pull together "term calendars" so that trustees can see when their term ends. With Raisers Edge, this was easy because we always entered each trustee's term dates.  Now with CRM not allowing future dates, its a chore to pull this information together for over 50 trustees several times a year.
